Our impact
Our Commitment to Ethical Tourism
We believe that meaningful travel goes beyond sightings—it’s about understanding, respect, and connection. Our approach to safaris is rooted in a deep commitment to ethical tourism, with minimal impact to nature and benefit to local communities.
Rather than focusing solely on the “Big Five,” we encourage a richer perspective of the Tanzanian wilderness. Our guides are trained to interpret the entire ecosystem—whether it’s the quiet presence of a Verreaux’s eagle-owl hidden in the shade, the intricate relationships between plants and insects, or the scent of a flowering acacia. These moments foster a deeper appreciation and connection.
We also support conservation beyond the boundaries of national parks. By visiting community-managed conservation areas, we help reduce pressure on heavily trafficked parks while directly supporting the people who live alongside wildlife. These communities are vital custodians of the land, and their role in conservation is essential for the future of Tanzania’s ecosystems.
Our guides are not simply drivers, but naturalists, guardians, and companions—individuals trained to lead with knowledge, respect, and curiosity. We are equally committed to nurturing the next generation of conservation leaders, icontributing 3% of our annual profits to Nature Tanzania, supporting their work in educating and inspiring youth about the natural environment.
We also advocate for travel outside peak seasons, when the landscape is quieter and the experience more immersive. This approach not only reduces environmental strain but allows for a more personal and reflective connection with nature.
Finally, we offer guided nature walks that shift focus to the smaller, often overlooked elements of the ecosystem. From insects such as a dung beetle rolling a dung ball 20 times its size - backwards! to knowing about medicinal plants and how certain trees sustain animals during times of drought, these experiences reveal the intricate web of life of the African bush.
Through these practices, we aim to create safaris that are not only unforgettable, but also responsible, educational, and sustainable.
Eco-friendly Lodges
We place a high importance on, and actively seek out lodges that strive to lessen their ecological footprint - whether through the use of solar power energy, locally-sourced and manufactured structures, to the recycling of water. We include these lodges as often as we can in our itineraries.
Living Wages
We value our guides very highly. All our guides are provided with a wage that goes above industry standards. We understand their work depends on the volume of tours, which can be erratic. To offset some of this variability, we do our best to not only provide fair wages, but also training opportunities whenever they arise.
Reducing Plastic
We are continually exploring solutions to lessen the excessive use of plastics used by lodges for packing safari lunches and distributing water. We have already incorporated a number of alternatives, including providing our guests with steel water thermos bottles and reusable food containers.
