Walking Safaris
“Big thanks to Tarakwai for organizing a great trip I will never forget. The walking safari in the wild, seeing the animals without a shield of a car was priceless! The local guide Ahmidiwe shared his valuable knowledge about the animals, the plants and the symbiotic relationship.”

In addition to viewing wildlife from a safari vehicle, we believe in balancing the experience with more active options like walking, which offers a closer, more personal connection with nature. These range from short ethnobotanical nature walks to longer ranger-led safaris in national parks.
You'll have the chance to encounter wildlife like giraffes and zebras—an exhilarating experience on foot!—as well as smaller creatures often missed from a vehicle, such as dik-diks, leopard tortoises, and the fascinating dung beetle at work.
These walks also offer a quiet window into daily local life: Maasai women collecting water, the gentle sound of cowbells as herders return at dusk, and a deeper appreciation for traditional plant medicine and the stories behind animal tracks you spot along the way.
These experiences are optional, and before offering them, we ensure discussions with our clients to ensure everyone is well-informed and understands the safety measures in place. All our guides are extensively trained and highly competent in leading walks. Ranger-led walks are conducted in areas devoid of large cats or other predators, further ensuring safety.
