Lake Eyasi

The Hadzabe people have called Lake Eyasi home for more than 10,000 years, and still maintain their Hunter Gatherer lifestyle; though with challenges such as forced civilization and encroachment of outside investors. But for the most part, they continue to hunt and forage for their food and live extremely close to nature. Guests, when they overnight here, are invited to an early morning hunt with the Hadza, where you will walk together to track and hunt for prey, or forage for other foods, perhaps even honey. Above all, visitors will see that the Hadza have knowledge and a way of life that the rest of the world has gotten untracked from, and that their existence is not to be seen as antiquated, but more than ever relevant in this modern world. Your visit not only helps to assert their positive self-identity in the face of discrimination and marginalization, but tourism proceeds further supplement their way of life.

Best time to go: Visiting the Lake Eyasi region is a great experience year round, but during the rains, the vegetation around the lake will be more lush and green.
